Let Navya take the complexity out of treatment decision making.
For Patients
Navya uses technology solutions to empower patients and provide them with hope and clarity when they are faced with the challenge of making complex medical decisions.
If you are a cancer patient or caregiver, and you wish to learn more about our Expert Opinion Service, please visit navya.care. There, you can hear more from patients’ experiences, learn about our expert panel, and learn how to submit your case for review.
Navya’s online Expert Opinion Service provides personally tailored expert treatment recommendations for patients with cancer. It can be used by patients directly, or can be accessed by caregivers and physicians on their behalf. Patients upload their medical reports, and receive an expert treatment recommendation through our online portal with a median turnaround time of 24 hours.
Over 35,000 cancer patients from 68 countries worldwide have reached out to Navya for an expert opinion on their treatment options. This service is the only online end-to-end solution for cancer treatment decisions.
How It Works: Combining Machine Learning With Real World Expertise
The Expert Opinion Service is modelled off of the processes for delivering treatment decisions at the best tertiary care centers. There, trained clinical professionals spend significant time processing cases before they approach an expert. Since experts’ time is scarce, these professionals must synthesize a patient’s history and medical reports into a concise format so that experts can review them quickly. The experts then collaborate, drawing upon their experience to recommend the best treatment plan. Such a treatment plan follows international guidelines and is informed by the experience of the hundreds of cases the expert sees every week.
Machine Learning Enables Comprehensive, Patient Specific Decisions
Navya uses machine learning to replicate this process in an efficient, accessible, and scalable manner. After patients, caregivers, or doctors upload patient medical reports through the portal on navya.care, patient advocates reach out to understand a patient’s complete medical history. Patients are also encouraged to submit questions to the experts. This allows them to receive responses to questions they might not have time to ask in an in-person consultation. Trained clinical analysts extract and synthesize the relevant information from medical reports.
The Navya evidence and experience engines then determine the most applicable evidence based treatment options for each case. The engines’ innovative machine learning technology offers the unique ability to replicate the intuition experts gain throughout their careers.
An Online, Organ Specific, Multidisciplinary Tumor Board
Finally, the patient’s medical background and treatment suggestions are presented to all organ specific specialists relevant to a patient’s case. Each expert then reviews the case and tweaks the treatment recommendation. Because the Expert System presents the case in such a structured manner, experts can review it in a matter of minutes. Experts’ feedback is fed back into the system, improving the breadth of cases the system can solve.
Navya allows multiple experts to collaborate efficiently through quick, asynchronous communication, providing the patient easy access to an online tumor board.
Navya then structures experts’ recommendations into a report written in accessible language by an analyst, who sends the report to the patient. All this is typically done within 1-2 days.
Patient Preference Matters
Every time a patient uses Navya’s Expert Opinion Service, we request that they include their treatment preferences (such as a desire to avoid surgery, or a desire to receive treatment near their home) and financial constraints. By factoring patients’ unique clinical and personal circumstances into their treatment decision, we provide solutions that are applicable, affordable, and unique to the patient.
A Compassionate, Empathetic Service
Patients are assigned a patient advocate who is there to guide them through every step of the process. Whether helping patients decide whether a test report is necessary, or answering follow up questions after the Expert Opinion Report has been delivered, Navya’s patient advocates offer compassion and empathy while working with patients to find the information they need.
A Unique Service
There are many online portals in the healthcare domain, which can be confusing for patients. Some portals are informational. Others allow patients to locate caregivers near them. Telemedicine services enable patients to audio or video calls with a doctor. Given the complexities of cancer treatment planning, where several reports need to be examined in detail, we believe that telemedicine solutions are suboptimal. Our system, which combines real world expertise with innovative machine learning technology, allows us to replicate these complexities. We offer cancer patients a complete, end-to-end solution which provides expert treatment recommendations tailored to their specific case.
